British and American literature

Are there people, who like English or American literature? Can you recommend me a good book? Please do not recommend me bestsellers. And why do you like these books?

I hadn't read a lot American literature books, but one of them I like very much! It's Dan Brown's "Angels and Devils " !  I hope you'll like it too)))
