Should Teachers Give Homework?

How do you feel about homework? Do you think teachers should give homework every night? Should elementary school children have homework? In some countries, parents are trying to ban homework. Many parents think children should have the freedom to explore, discover, and read for pleasure after school. Some teachers agree. Other people think reviewing lessons after school is an important stage of learning and preparing kids for the workforce.

This is a very interesting response about the homework question. When the weather is nice out, my kids are so busy with their friends after school that I don't see much of them. They come in for dinner and go back out until bath time.  Homework time is sometimes the only time I see them after school. You have given me something to think about!

From my own experiences... giving an assignment would depend on the set of pupils do you have. Since everyone is unique, i rather say check out first your pupils "way of learning" before giving an assignment. It would be useless if these group of children doesn't love having homework at home...their tendencies is to escape or neglect in doing their assignment...or at the end their parents are the one who will finish assignment ... On the other hand, their are group of pupils who love to study and do their homework with little supervision of their parents, more independent... at the young age they already established study habit...so i would say everything will depend on the set of pupils you handle if either they are more studios or an explorer or discoverer :)

To my mind there is a need of good communication when  two person together put efforts  to  achieve  a particular task.So if we talk about student and teacher  usually   there  is only  one way communication  i.e only teacher lecture .It is not effective way ,but if the teacher teach and give the homework to student to solve the similar type of questions  that taught  in class ,then student will invest time in it and try to solve it  and he came across several problems which could be discussed with the teacher the next day .  This is  the two way communication and it's very effective .

Secondly this makes a good projection in the memory  of the student about the particular topic  when he do same thing in class and the home and student  could remember it longer .

Thirdly teacher came to know whether students are able to grasp whatever is taught in the class .If the students do not perform well then teachers are also blamed .

So i think that's why teachers love to  give homework to the students

Teachers cannot coverup all lessons within limited time in classrooms.That occasion homework will give them more knowledge and help them to practice.

i don't imagine a school without homework. anyway i think if we want to eliminate homework we have to find another substitute that means a new system

I think as a teacher we should give the students some guided home work so that they can practice and understand easily.

I think most of the school have the politic to dont give the student homerwork,because  they do evrything at school ,and they are coming to their homes about 5 p.m

for me..I hate homework but i think it's very helpful..without homeworks you can't understand the lesson 100%..but teachers shouldn't give a lot of homework for students so that they can have freedom to do what they love..

As a teacher, I think we should give some homework, but should be just something to be practiced about the before class or  the introduction of the class that is coming for the next day, and also, this depend of the country  We live and  and how people are  educated, I meant, how is the culture of the people, because in some countries, the parents do not help their children, it means, They do not have enough knowledge  to help them up and the children sometimes can not do this by themselves.

In my experience as English learner I think giving homework's is the important element in the education process. Homework encourage people to practice their knowledge and to improve themselves better.

I think homework is important too for students because they can review the lessons they get from school but if the teachers always give homework it is not wise too because the students also need time to refresh their mind after tired of studying at school. so everything must be in balance.

Personally I've already come to the form decision that children are nowadays overloaded with school. They have to cope with so much, so many new information is put on them that they have to neglect their hobby and that makes them be bored with everything they do.
