Will English learners be weak in their writing in future due to digital communication?

Nowadays, the use of electrical gadgets has gained its popularity among people from all walks of life. I wonder what might happen to English learners and their writing skills if they keep on using text messaging and symbols.

I don't think so because writing is an important skill and we need it to write formal letters or memos and there are some people who like to be great writers so I don't think this changes anything.
