Mock Classroom Group

Hi Teachers,

Do you want to set up a private MyEC Group for your students? This group is an example of what you can do.

Join and experiment here before you start your own group. Feel free to ask any questions.

Get your Group Approved

The first step is to create a group for you and your students (name, image, and description) and wait for approval. Make sure to set your group as private. NOTE: This group is set as public so that anyone can see it. Yours will be private if you choose that setting.

Hi Tara. Thanx for the trouble with the screenshot. I'm familiar with screenshots of that nature, BUT either I need a walking stick ... or my browser is hiding what you see on your screen, because I don't see the forum section of this group!

This is what I see:

Information

That "Forum" name you see there, is the general Forum page. So, I guess the problem lies either with my browser or software I do not have yet. I am using another browser (linked to my security package), but I have tried IE too a few minutes ago with the same result.

But pse read my other reply to you too; I guess I shouldn't spend time further on this, at least not for the time being! Thanx anyway. :)

@Johan Did you see my message here?

http://my.englishclub.com/group/mock-classroom-group/forum/topics/s...

I think that should answer your question. You can upload anything from your computer. Try starting a new Discussion in the Forum section of this group. Call it Homework Assignment (or whatever you want). Try uploading a file from your computer. (see screenshot)

Thanks Tara. I guess joining would pose the least of the problems! My other concern(s) I've shared with you on the other thread. I basically can't figure out how to post any content (like lesson material from my own pc files) in this group. If I can't do it here, I guess I wouldn't be able to do it in any new group I would like to create. Maybe my pc is lacking some software and that's why I don't see the necessary features (I have Flash, btw)? Or if you don't have any other teachers posting their own lesson material in their own groups, maybe the website is not set up for what I had in mind? I'm in a bit of a loss here, I must admit.

@Johan It really doesn't take much to get approved. Students have to agree to the terms, answer a few questions, and upload a picture. They can try to do it at home. If any aren't approved, simply help them.

You could also let me know the names of your students (make sure you tell me which profile names they choose), and I'll make sure they are all approved even if their answers aren't all correct.

Hi Tara. Thanx for taking the effort to set up this group. I'll check it out and if it works for me, I'll consider the possibility to start groups for my different classes. However, I'm a little worried about when they're joining EC (which I don't have a problem with as such, as it is obvious that should happen first) as their command of the language is not all that great. I'll look at the possibility of joining together although I'm not sure whether we have that facility where all computers in one specific classroom would be linked to the Internet. I'll see what I can do and will keep you posted where necessary. Have a nice day. :)

I get it now. Then, I will wait for teachers to create their own groups, and will join.

This is really exciting! A great idea!

Thank you very much Dear Tara...
