Country Road at Winter

A road at winer. U need to be careful not to drive into roadside ditch with your bicycle when some big car passes.. U won't know where the ditch is, since it's buried under snow.

Yes, Grace. Without winter tires, I think I would probably had fallen on this road..

I've have little regret that I don't have off-road tires though. I got winter tires for commuter/city bike. Off-road-winter-tires would work better in deep snow.

Are you using winter tires now, Hardi?

There were some warm days when temperature rise above zero. The cars packed the sticky wet snow hard and then, when it froze again, it became all ice..

Here on this place it wasn't that bad, because it was pretty flat, but in somewhere, there were deeper wheel ruts in ice too, it was a bit difficult to ride in there.. Could not take photos while riding, because had to hold handlebar with both hands.. and camera was shaking too because the bumps in ice.

It was only about -2C cold yesterday. And no, or almost no wind. I would have liked some sun, but.. maybe it was better without it.

It just looks cold, because the ice and seemingly drifting snow on road, but that lose snow on road is still(not drifting at that moment).. it have in shapes like that, only because the wind created by passed by cars....

I don't know how slippery it was in there, since the bicycle had spikes and I did not come down from bike. Maybe I would have fall on ground if I stepped on it by foot. :P I suppose it really was slippery but, I would give something like 6 of 10 for it's slipperiness. There's still some clear asphalt visible, and there's no water film on top of the ice, nor is the ice hidden under thin layer of fresh snow... Or maybe there is ice under lose snow somewhere at edge of road? Don't know, although I did ride there at edge too, I suppose the spikes kept me from feeling the slipperiness. :)

^_^
