I went to tutoring Chinese on Friday afternoon as usual. My student was a 10-year old little girl. Her mother is Chinese, but her father is American. Althourh she is half Chinese, she can only understand a little Chinese, not to mention speaking or writing in Chinese. I have been teaching her once a week for almost a month. She is one of those sweet and well-behaved student, but would easily lose her attention while learning. Besides Chinese, she is also studying French, piano, clarinet and…

All of us who have studied languages discover words and phrases with more than one meaning. These may have different meanings for native speakers in a single place or have a meaning in one place that is different from the meaning in another. These differences can be difficult and sometimes embarrassing for learners of the new language.
I am a native English speaker and have been surprised in my own language when visiting other English speaking countries. Many years ago my wife used a…

Here I am
still looking for the answer
where the end of this long journey is
'cause I've mortgaged a half of my soul for a hope
Finding a place where I will lay my love and happiness
The future is a question
and the past is only the spills of failure
I walk among the mists
no light, no clues and no friend
I am alone here
I am scared
Here I am
Still looking for the miracle
there will be a shining star above the…

China International Coal & Energy New Industry Expo. I will be a volunteer in this Expo, which invites hundreds of corporations to come. I'm very proud of being part of this Expo, and I hope to serve for this program. Meanwhile, I think this is a great chance for me to improve my spoken-English.
During my stay in Taiyuan, I live with 3 girls…

I'm majoring in Chinese language education. But one thing I do know is that if I want to be a good Chinese teacher in the U.S. I need to improve my English skills. Chinese language and Chinese culture are very complecated enough for me to explain in another language. From today, I will keep writing English journal and practice and practice!!
