because people speak English
.... It is a comparison that describes or clarify two things or structure or feature of the things in comparison, mostly in similarity. For example,
... white like snow
.... hard like rock
..... soft like wax
In sentences we can use like;
She was as quite as a mouse. (you cant hear mouse)
He was behaving like fish out of water. (very restless, disturbed)
Her cheeks were red like roses.
His memory is short like a ram in computer.
Life is not a bed of roses.
Life is like a box of chocolates.
..... How you can practice?
.. Whenever you read a text, dialogue .. try to find out analogies and see in which context they are being used. Sometimes analogies are quite culture specific. Like, "Life is not a bed of roses" is a kind of phrase spoken in Indian culture.
Hope you will enjoy :)
