Stefan flew to L.A to see his cousin . On the plane , he wanted to listen to some music to relax but found that his headset was not working properly. No music came on .

So he called the flight attendant , An American woman , and told her the problem. The flight attendant smiled and said " Oh you can move to any unoccupied seat you'd like . She didnt say Im sorry , She did not apologize for the inconvieience that the broken headset caused stefan. Why not ?

the flight attendant is employed by the airline company which has left an unusable headset in the passengers seat . Should She the flight attedant have said Im sorry ?

According to Amercian rules of speaking , she didnt have to Why ?

I would say thats its not in the job description  responsibility of the airline attendant to ensure all headsets are working on the plane , that would be the responsibility of another person employed by the airline company .

the other person such as cabin staff or ground crew would be required to apologize in this case .

As the airline attendant offered an alternative option for the inconvienience that would be acceptable.

In English apologizing is only required when you are directly resposibility for the action or have directly caused the problem or inconvienience yourself .

thats why if you apologize for something you didnt do you may find yourself in trouble with the LAW in America.

apologizing for other peoples mistakes is not common

So who should appologise to the man? The boss of the airline? [But i bet he didnt break the headset as well.] The company? [then the flight attendant worked for the company that time, so she belonged to the company, yes?]

I wonder...

thx for sharing~~\(≧▽≦)/~

I Think You Should apologize Because the headset is not working properly, and the flight attendant is the company at That Time.      So, he is using her  services. Should she apologize with a wonderful smile, and everything would be solved.     :)

How would the man have reacted if the flight attendant in reply to his complaint had burst into tears?
