Is tourism good or bad for countries?

Tourism nowadays means more than just traveling. Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries which offer a significant proportion of income to countries and the industry and government officials invest significant amount of money to attract tourists to their countries. Since tourism provides a high profit, the industry is always evolving to develop better attractions in the cities such as having better museums, parks, and many cultural events. People might think that tourism will provide growth and higher standards of living by keeping individuals in the region. Since Governments have great incentive to improve local facilities such as roads, water supplies, and sewage-disposal systems to bring added revenue to the country and with expansion of tourism government will provide better services.

By attracting people from other parts of the country and creating great changes for local, people might think that tourism may expand the economy. Tourism has positive impact on economy however it also has negative effects on environment. Mother Earth is facing a great danger since it’s been treated with irresponsibility of our actions and irresponsible tourism is one of the greatest threats to earth. people have to analyze the negative impacts of tourism, such as impacts of land pollution, air pollution, and water pollution that leads serious problems for inhabitants and ecosystem.

Although the tourism sector has generated a living for the local people, the debate remains controversial as to whether tourism has positive or negative impacts on locals. Tourists have a choice of where to go and how to spend their money whereas developers have many choices of locations and tourism products. Thus, being highly competitive industry tourism depends on customer satisfaction from tailored services. Longs flights and providing transportation services for tourists releases tonnes of greenhouse gases, tourist facilities produce large amounts of solid waste that dumped in to the environment, and also poor sewage system is a serious a source of pollution for the environment and most importantly to inhabitants.

However, tourism is one of the industries that can be sustainable as long as developers and government officials take serious and resulting action to gain better results otherwise this industry runs a terrible risk of pollution for environment and inhabitants which dangers the mother earth and risks future generations to reproduce in a healthy environment. For better access to clean air, land and water inhabitant must be protective of their mother earth.

Hi ..nida..
Tourism is a highly competitive industry that heavily depends on customer satisfaction. Therefore investors do the best service in order to have a high profit. So people have to think and analyze the pros and cons of tourism.

Hi.. deuce666.. I could say something for my country. Even though I do not live there anymore, when I went on vacation last year, I saw that people who make many is not the local people is the investors in tourism industry. The rest of the people are trying to make a living, working long hours and in bad condition in order to make tourist comfortable and to have a nice vacation.

I agree with you.

Though tourism has a positive impact on economy as a whole, & it is a rapidly thriving industry; however, many a times, it is a great threat for local culture. It is also a threat for environment, because tourists never think once, before discarding waste, especially plastic bottles, and shopping begs, on streets, in the gardens, and on the seaside.

I think, there is a need, to initiate, awareness among tourists, that they must respect local cultures, & do not discard waste material on public places & other places.

Your blog is really great, keep up the good work.
