MANKIND INCARNATED IN ONE EXTRA CHROMOSOME

The difference between ordinary and   extraordinary is that just little 'extra'.

This is the short story of the person who changed my life forever.

It was going to be the happiest day in my life, my son is about to be born and I am present during the childbirth!  what a wonderful experience, although at the end the nurse had to sat me down because I almost crumple.

Everything was  perfect but few minutes later, the doctor told me that my son is being taken to another hospital in Madrid in an ambulance due to a hearth anomaly. I will always remember that moment imposible to erase.  I couldn't even hug him before leaving!!

It was a neverending travel in a grey rainy day following the ambulance.  Next morning I was told the diagnostic; "Your son is healthy although he has one extra chromosome, that is he has down syndrome".   Maybe I was shocked but I just wanted to take him back home.

At first I didn't know what to do with him, but eight years later I wouldn't know what to do without him. He has an amazing almond-shaped eyes, an infectious laught, have a great charisma and he always know when his parents need a hug. He has taught us to love him and enjoy thoroughly his little daily succeeds. They are like a reward for us.

He likes doing the same things that you do, running, playing, swimming, dancing, riding bikes... but what I really admire of him is his unselfishness and profound gratitude.

Down syndrome don't define these childs, so don't define them by it, don't judge them until you know them, don't understimate them until you challenge them and don't talk about them until you have talked to them. I assure you they won't let you down. They are really faithful.

When you focus on someone's disability, you'll overlook their abilities, beauty and uniqueness.

May the world would be a better place if people could see it from their point of view

People say mongol. Doctors say down syndrome. His friends call him Jorge.

What a good looking boy!  I bet he took it after his mom. (^,^) Okay...and maybe a little bit after his dad. Just kidding!

We all have disabilities, one way or another.  And for some, they are just not as obvious as the others'.  We are all lacking in different ways.  That's why we need each other...to complete us and so that we can complete those around us.  We all play an important piece in a puzzle.

Glad to see you again Coral,

I also believe in that 'atraction law' you mention. I take for granted that everyone can succedd in his/her life.
Keep on as positive as you are :)

Hi Anah,

I just try to make people realize that they are not different of you or me or of any other child. They have the same feelings even more developed.
Thanks for your reply :)

My dear friend Kiriku,

I apreciate your reply and opinion about our kids. Yes, I agree and feel lucky having him, although also admit that he likes making mischiefs too. I know you know about this as well as me :D

Dear Estanis, you are so lucky to have  such an amazing kid. I believe kids and parents have a secret link called fate, and happy persons are the  ones who are deeply aware about that and find a way to keep the connection strong and longlasting. Among those people, you are the one. Thanks for the touching story. God bless Jorge and your family.
