MY NEW COUNTRY (And My Day Job)

I am finally settling in to my new home and new job in Saudi Arabia. I am teaching English as a Foreign Language, in a private secondary school for boys during the mornings. I also go next door to the intermediate school and visit each English class there for one period each week. I still do not have a reliable internet connection, so I am not able to do much here at my favorite English web site.

I thank all of my friends for your concerns, comments and questions. Things are going well, but the teaching takes up much of my time when I am near an internet connection. The rest of my time I am at home without any internet at all. I am promised by the phone company, that I should have the internet installed at my home very soon.

The students here very smart for the most part. Some are too lazy to practice their English, so I am encouraging the better ones to join MyEc and begin practicing along with all of you. I think our English Club here will be the best thing they can do outside of class besides studying. Do you agree that this is the best place for them to learn on-line?

Would you like to see some of the good students come here and participate in MyEc? They will be able to tell you some things about their part of Saudi Arabia, and they should be able to learn some things from you, besides getting some good English practice. Later on, I will write a blog post about my "Night Job".

i am understand if people of there have matter with learning english because the english isnot first languange in there but after u come there, its will be change.

you make different, add color, so look interesting !.

i ever problem to understand something to other, tired, hot, become angry huft..but after i can make their know my transfer knowledge its will be unlimited satisfaction

I want to share a quote by Antoine de Saint Exupery, maybe you´ve heard it before: "If you want to build a ship, don´t drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea". To myself this is a good description for the teaching job.

Thanks so much for finding time to post this update! It's great to hear that you are settling in to your new home and routine. Thank you for inviting your new students to join MyEC. I can't wait to hear more about Saudi Arabia once you get your Internet sorted out. It must be an interesting experience to be without Internet access, though. Have you caught up on your reading? That is what I would do. Do you they use Facebook there? If they are intimidated to join MyEC they could join EC on FB page first. Perhaps it will encourage them to create their own pages and start blogging!
