I read the comments and made a conclusion: for most men here wife is not close, she is not family for you. You tell about wife as about thing which you can buy many times.  My husband said that logically he would save woman because she is younger.

If i had to choose between husband and son i would choose son.

Men, if you had to choose between wife and daughter ... ? who would you save first

My mother is a great gift from God , I wouldn't desert her even if my wife was Angelina

i am not a boy, so maybe this question is not addressed to me. but as far as i know, boys do not, or at least, should not, get married. marriage is a responsibility for men. most cultures agree that a male should "cleave" to his mother, but when he get's married, a man should "cleave" to his wife. (this confusing word has two opposite meanings.) so the answer to your question would be, according to the wisdom of our elders, save your wife first.

it can't be compared, they are totally different. A wife is the one whom can share happyness and sorrow, she is the women who can company with you for your rest life. while, mom is a women who gives you life, feed you, teach you,love you, what you should do is to appreciated her, love her, help her to pass the rest of the life in her old age. you should love your wife and mom,but the emotione is different, i think.
