English club chat room is a great place for practicing spoken English. We do not use our tongue in the chat room, however, but we use our mind to think in English rapidly.

We use the chat room in different ways, like:

  • For fun
  • For meeting people from different cultures
  • For conversations on various topics
  • For learning new words and expressions
  • Her achieving help from natives and teachers

There may be more reasons also

We all have various experiences about the chat room and I would like to know about some of them.

Here is a list of some basic questions about the chat room:

  •  What do you use the chat room?
  •  What makes you happy in the chat room?
  • What makes you frustrated and bored in the chat room?
  • Do you prefer chatting in the main room or in private?
  • What inspires you in the chat room
  • Do you like to chat on a specific topic or do you use the chat room just for fun?
  • How do you express your disagreement?
  • How do you face the situation when a person does not agree with your point?
  • What do you do to make a new member familiar with the chat room?
  • How do you behave with the old or new members? Is there any difference?

These questions are based on my experiences in the chat room. Try to answer some or all of these questions. In fact, I do not ask these questions to seek answers. I would like to see you thinking about questions. In the light of these questions, share your chat experiences with me!

If you like to add more questions, please do it!

Good questionnaire you created. It's also help us to start chat in main room, and private chat as well.

@ Seeker,

I usually chat in the main room when I come up with a grammatical question or a difficult expression, the meaning of which is difficult for me to decipher. I, also, join the room when I see some chatters with whom I fee comfortable chatting in the room.

When I see an annoying person who makes it clear that he/she hasn't joined the room for the sake of improving his/her English and uses obscene words, I either try to make them realize they are not welcome in this room with such behaviors, or leave the room and prefer chatting in private with some great friends of mine. Recently, observing some people who have mistaken freedom of speech with hatred speech, I avoid chatting in the main room.

The point is one knows their homework with those using foul language, but when it comes to people who know how to insult others without using a single swear word well then.

About people disagreeing with us, I don't think the world would be a pleasant place for us if all of us agreed with one another about everything. As long as we respect others and their opinions and beliefs, disagreements can ignite heated discussions. :-)

  •  What do you use the chat room?
  • Whenever i feel alone i come here , so the reason is mainly this..not to feel alone, then i use my chance to talk to ppl and interact with them in ENGLISH....
  •  What makes you happy in the chat room?
  • the healthy atmosphere of communication (if there is any )
  • What makes you frustrated and bored in the chat room?
  •  useless discussions and so called debates  of religion and politics  and badmouthing or the slightly version ''gossiping''
  • Do you prefer chatting in the main room or in private?
  • I think the second part of my nick says everything about this question
  • What inspires you in the chat room
  • the nicks of the lazy members
  • Do you like to chat on a specific topic or do you use the chat room just for fun?
  • it depends on my mood
  • How do you express your disagreement?
  • here also many versions....depending on my mood again, I don't agree , i disagree, but aggression and sever words should not appear in this or in any chatrooms
  • How do you face the situation when a person does not agree with your point?
  • sometimes i just leave the room, if i see that the person is not capable of any healthy debate or if the person is too much insisting...
  • What do you do to make a new member familiar with the chat room?
  • first of all the new member should not be lazy to scroll up and get introduced with the previous topics or just with some lines before saying hi and hello, then i would greet him and the rest is up to him....
  • How do you behave with the old or new members? Is there any difference?

the same as with new and old friends, of course being more careful because we don't know anything yet about this or that new member, about his religious beliefs, trying not hurt any of his or her subtle feelings and so on..precautions should always  be taken with the new comers...

Too many questions to be answered, Seeker. But to sum it up, I like to chat in the main room to meet new people, to learn their cultures and views, and maybe to for  them to learn something from me too. I try to avoid bigots or any bigotry views though it's hard sometimes. If that happened, I prefer to left the room.

Mind blowing comments ....by Eric and Misha!

I think, I like to stay in main . I appreciate those who seem helpful and allow others to learn from their corrections. I hate to see any rude behavior and vulgarism.
