The Movie "The Color Purple"; not far from reality

Hi everyone,

Last night when just searching on TV for something good to watch, I came across a very very nice and touching movie called "The color purple". In the first look, it might not seem very fascinating, but as you go on with the story, you come to know that, yeah, it is something I must see and I must know about.

The story is based on a novel by Alice Walker. The story is about very hard and disappointing life of a woman named "Celie" [ along with other characters like "Sofia"].

The film, beautifully shows how she keeps going in spite of all difficulties and cruelties in her life. With the help of a woman named "Shug", she becomes more hopeful in her life, and she comes to know that she should respect herself.

Celie is a black girl who represents other black girls and women , even not just the black ones, but also other poor girls and women who live in a very bad condition, esp who do not have good and respectful families.

I was really touched by the movie. Moment by moment, we, who have been brought up in good conditions, and who have had very nice families and parents, must thank God.

We should thank God to be gifted with nice families and friends. We should thank God to be given a good life. We must also pray for all the ones who do not have nice parents and families.

We must know that there are people out here who lack self-respect in addition to being treated disrespectfully by others in the society. We must always care for the poor people and help them enjoy their lives.

Thanks for your attention.

Be well

:)

Hi my dear Anele,

Thanks a lot for your precious comment. Yeah, Oprah Winfery played the role of Sofia in the movie. [I really liked Sofia's braveness against the ones who didn't treat her respectfully]

"A Jewel in the Palace" is one of my favorite adorable series. I really adore Seo Jang Geum. She was really brave and strong in the difficulties.

Thanks for the beautiful comment here.

Have a very beautiful time

:)

I agree with you......  that movie is an eye-opener to those who are living in deep contentment because of the luxury that surrounds them.  It was a hit not only because OPRAH starred in it but because of its worth.  I came to know this movie when I was a teen.  From its trailer, I learned that there was a rape scene so I turned my back against that movie because I was disciplined not to watch movies which are not meant for young people like me during that time.

But now that I am an adult already, I guess your blog is a reminder for me not to ignore it this time.  I like movies wherein the protagonist has to survive from difficulties in life.  Just not long ago, I watched the same genre but it was a Korean Drama.  It was entitled "A Jewel in the Palace".

Hello Zahra, thanks for sharing the story. I wish I could get a chance to watch it.  Everything what we've had or been given shouldn't be taken for granted.
