all depend on our vocabulary,i think.if we have a large vocabulary and the novel is interesting enough at the same time,so ("if" and "so") why not have a try,even though there are all kinds of  difficulties to comprehend the novel

It's our vocabulary that counts/ It all depends on how rich our vocabulary is, I think. If we have a rich source of vocabulary, and the novel is simultaneously interesting enough, why don't we have a try though we may have a lot of difficulties comprehending the novel?
